Rescuing Your Tooth From Extraction

Most people associate tooth pain with sinus congestion or facial trauma. However, when the discomfort lasts longer than a few days and progressively worsens, it can mean there is an infection deep within a tooth’s layers. Our team at Maguire Comprehensive Dentistry is here to provide root canal treatment should we believe it to be the most effective way to save your tooth from possible extraction. Call us today to discuss the reasons for a root canal and whether one might be in your future.

What Happens During a Root Canal?

Your emergency dentist in Ocoee will begin by numbing your tooth and the area around it with local anesthesia. Once you are comfortable, and the tooth is fully isolated, we will make a small opening in the crown using specialized dental instruments. (The model generated with the help of our CT/cone beam scanner will make this process easier and more successful.)
With complete access to the tooth’s inner layers, we will clear away all infected tissues within the root canals and pulp chamber, being sure to fully remove the infected pulp – the source of the pain.
We’ll then sanitize the tooth and fill the space with gutta-percha, which is designed to help maintain the tooth’s structure. The tooth will then be sealed before a custom-made dental crown is placed over the area for added protection.
